Publishing

How an approved Moment becomes a Post, gets cut and captioned, and is delivered to each destination independently.

From Moment to Post

When you approve a Moment in Review, it becomes a Post: one manageable object that moves from unpublished to scheduled to published. The Posts tab of the Library lists everything you have approved and where each one stands. Filter it by state (All, Unpublished, Scheduled, Published, Failed) or source, search it, and sort by newest, schedule, views, or engagement to find what you need.

What happens automatically

After approval, SonnetClip handles the whole production chain:

  • Cutting: the suggested window (including any trim you made during review) is cut into the Post's video, in a regular version and a blur-fit 9:16 version for vertical platforms.
  • Captions: burned word-by-word captions are rendered per destination, using the caption style you set on the Accounts page. Captions are part of the content: a destination with captions enabled does not publish until its captioned video is ready.
  • Titles and hashtags: the AI-suggested title and hashtags travel with the Post and are composed per platform at delivery time. X carries at most two hashtags, YouTube always adds #Shorts, Instagram takes up to eight, and TikTok up to seven.
  • Scheduling: each destination is booked into a slot on the Schedule board.

While the video is being prepared the Post shows a Processing state. This usually takes a minute or two.

Destinations are independent

Each destination of a Post carries its own schedule, status, and retries. If one platform fails to deliver, only that destination retries. The others are untouched, and nothing is ever posted twice. Adding a destination later never waits for a new render, because both video versions already exist.

Posting style per platform

TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram default to the blur-fit portrait version. X defaults to the regular cut. You can change the default per platform on its Brand Kit page (Edit config on the Accounts card takes you there) and override it per destination on the Post before it goes out.

The Post page

Open any Post to see the large player, title, status, and hashtags, plus one block per destination showing the exact video and copy going there, its slot, and its caption state. From here you can:

  • Edit the title, or give one destination its own caption and hashtags without touching the others.
  • Reschedule, cancel, or retry a single destination.
  • Add destinations any time with Publish to, even to a Post that already went out elsewhere.
  • Open the live post on its platform, and unpublish where the platform allows it.
  • Download the finished video, styled the way your Download settings specify.

If you approve a Moment before connecting any account, the Post still renders and parks as Unpublished. Nothing is lost; connect an account and publish it when you are ready.

When something fails

Failure is an explicit, repairable state, never a dead card. The Post tells you what went wrong: the platform rejected the post, the account needs reconnecting, delivery kept failing, the video was not ready in time, or captions could not be rendered. One tap retries that destination alone. Deleting a Post cancels its pending sends; anything already published stays live on the platform.

Watermarks

Posts published on Basic carry a small SonnetClip mark in the corner of the video, sized to stay legible without covering your content. Plus and Pro publish clean. See Billing for plan details.

Tracking outcomes

Once a destination is live, its views and engagement appear on the Post and on the Posts tab, refreshed regularly. A Refresh button pulls current numbers on demand. Published Posts also feed the outcome views on your dashboard and in the Library, so you can see which Moments actually performed. The Best Practices guides explain what each platform rewards.
